Southern Fried can arrange for the rental of any audio/electronic/computer device for sessions. For client convenience, we maintain the following list of the most requested gear in-house. In the site menu you will a complete list of our gear.

Live Room & Iso Room

The main live room at SFS measures 20' x 23' x 12', providing ample space for recordings. Our newest addition, the isolation room, is 20' x 16' x 10', offering an ideal setting for focused tracking. Additionally, the loft above the control room can serve as another isolation area, enhancing flexibility for your recording sessions.

Control Room

SFS provides digital recording with Burl interfacing and Pro Tools DAW, as well as analog "live to 2-track" options using the Otari MX5050Bii. Depending on the project, I often employ a hybrid approach, utilizing multiple consoles for engineering. During tracking and mixing sessions, I blend various console preamps, EQs, and compressors alongside outboard gear. While most mixing is typically done "in the box," I also offer the option to mix through the consoles for a more hands-on experience.

Consoles

At SFS, we feature a selection of tracking and mixing consoles, including SSL, Mackie, and Bi-Amp analog models, alongside Avid digital controllers. These consoles provide the perfect blend of analog warmth and digital precision, allowing for exceptional sound shaping and control. Whether you’re mixing a full band or fine-tuning intricate details, our consoles are equipped to deliver professional results, ensuring your recordings achieve the highest quality sound.

Recorders

At SFS, we utilize Burl Audio's Mothership interface for our digital recordings, ensuring exceptional sound quality and fidelity. Renowned for its state-of-the-art A/D and D/A conversion, the Mothership features proprietary transformer-based technology that delivers rich analog warmth and depth, capturing every nuance of your performance.

Loaded with versatile modules, the Mothership offers flexible I/O options, including AES/EBU and ADAT, making it perfect for any recording setup. High-speed internet and wireless access, along with DigiDelivery file transfer, are available throughout Southern Fried Sound.

Two flatscreen TVs offer a range of displays, including program material for mix-to-picture, console recall and control screens, as well as HD television.

Amenities

The loft, located directly above the studio control room, is a cozy space to relax, watch TV, play video games, practice, write, or even sleep. It's available for overnight guests or artists working on long-term projects. For extended stays, guests can enjoy amenities like a swimming pool, gun range, camping options (with space for RVs or tents), mini bikes (with plenty of trails to explore), fishing, hunting, outdoor BBQs, and a wrap-around screened-in porch with a bed swing. Additional rooms are also available in the main house on the property.
